Saxon Pre-Algebra

Saxon Algebra 1/2, also known as pre-algebra, focuses on introductory Algebra concepts, facilitating from the concrete concepts of arithmetic to the abstract concepts of algebra. Students will continue in their introductory studies of geometry, such as working with area, perimeter, and volume. Students will work on quarterly projects that will enhance and apply what they are learning in real life, cross-disciplinary opportunities. We prioritize hands-on collaborative experiences including discussions and learning to work in ways that support each other.

Saxon Algebra 1

Saxon Algebra 1 concentrates on teaching the fundamental aspects of problem-solving, which is simply the application of mathematical concepts in new situations. We will also continue the study of the area, volume, and perimeter of geometric figures that began in pre-algebra. Completing this will provide students with half a year of high school geometry along with a full year of algebra 1. Students will work on quarterly real-life, cross disciplinary projects that will enhance their learning.  We prioritize hands-on collaborative experiences including discussions and learning to work in ways that support each other.

Saxon Algebra 2

Saxon Algebra II continues the study of topics from algebra and geometry and begins the study of trigonometry. We continue to dive deeper into the abstract study of the interrelationships of numbers. Completing this will provide students with the other half of high school geometry in addition to algebra 2. Students will work on quarterly real-life, cross disciplinary projects that will enhance their learning.  We prioritize hands-on collaborative experiences including discussions and learning to work in ways that support each other.

Personal Finance

Beginning with financial planning, students will learn valuable principles on how to budget, helpful tools to use when planning, and problem-solving strategies to make informed decisions. With that foundation, they'll move on to learning about the relationship between careers and income. They'll learn to calculate net worth and net income, explore various occupations and the income for each, and how income taxes work. Students will learn how managing money teaches them about the benefits of savings and checking accounts as well as various types of banking institutions. Students will then explore common types of investments, and the risks and returns involved with each one. Students will also learn about credit and debt, and understand the importance of establishing good credit. Students will also have an opportunity to experience an introduction to entrepreneurship.
