CO Assessment and Evaluation
In accordance with CO State Law, homeschool students are required to submit testing OR evaluation records to their CO school (where they submitted their Notice of Intent=NOI)
Option 1: Students take a Nationally Approved Standardized Test with a Composite Score. Test composite score must be above the 13th percentile.
Option 2: Students are evaluated by an approved evaluator. Evaluation must show sufficient academic progress according to their ability.
Option 1: Nationally Approved Standardized Tests: My child will take an approved standardized test in grades 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 and we will submit the results to our district.
If you choose the standardized testing option, please research and choose the test that best fits your student(s).

Option 2: Evaluation by CO Approved Evaluator: My child will be evaluated in grades 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 and we will submit the evaluators' letter or form to our district.
If parents choose option 2 for their student, the parent and child will meet with an approved CO evaluator once during a testing/evaluation year to demonstrate adequate growth based on the individual child. Often, evaluators talk with the child and parent and view work samples from the school year. Evaluators then prepare a simple letter or form for parents to submit to their CO School District (where they submitted their NOI) to verify adequate growth by the student.
Parents contact a local evaluator of their choice on their own to establish a private evaluation meeting.
