D49 Sports and Extracurricular Activities
D49 Homeschoolers may participate in sports and extracurricular activities at local D49 schools.
Steps to Participate
Step 1: Parents must research D49 schools to find out which school location has the most appropriate sport or activity for their student. The D49 website has a search option for sports, arts (such as band, choir), and clubs (under the other tab).
Step 2: Parents must contact the school(s) and sports coaches or club/music directors directly. The link above can direct you to each school's websites. Interested families can find out information about program dates, tryouts, parent meetings, and perhaps get added to coach/director email lists for future information. (After school club participation would most likely not require steps 3 and 4).
Step 3: Homeschool students wishing to participate in D49 sports or extracurricular activities are subject to all eligibility requirements including tryouts. Like all D49 students, homeschool students are not guaranteed a spot or participation in any team, band, or group.
Step 4: If students are eligible and offered a spot on a team or group, they may have to submit a physical form after an in-person wellness appointment with a physician and weekly grades per CHSAA guidelines. Weekly grade reports are sent to coaches or directors to fulfill CHSAA eligibility guidelines.
